Canadian home prices softened in major markets through much of 2026, creating what observers described as a potential sweet spot before activity strengthens again.
In Late-Q2, Toronto's benchmark home price was $941K, ↓~5% yearly, while Mid-Q2 British Columbia avg. prices reached $948K after a ↓~1% move.
Across Canada, an industry association said avg. prices ↑~2% MoM to $702K, even as a bank expected national prices to edge slightly lower this year.
A bank forecast sales growth in Canada’s largest provinces during the second half, helped by improving buyer-seller price alignment and recent affordability gains.
The outlook also saw Canadian prices turning positive in 2027, with British Columbia potentially moving sooner, while Alberta’s 2026 gains were expected to stay modest.
